U.S. federal prosecutors have Trump's 2021 recordings, CNN reported, citing multiple sources. The recording includes an admission that he kept a classified document after leaving the White House. The document may be about a possible attack on Iran.
Recordings Will Be Part Of The Investigation Into Trump
One source said the relevant portion of the Iran documents was about two minutes long, and another said the discussion was only a small part of a much longer meeting.
The sources noted that the recording could be “important” evidence in the case against Trump, who claims he can keep presidential records and “automatically” declassify documents.
Trump has denied any wrongdoing. A representative for Trump would not comment on the matter and said the investigation was politically motivated.
