The Edge Media Group chairman, the 43rd prosecution witness in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal, testified that Jho Low had threatened him to stop reporting on the 1MDB case.
He was cross-examined in the High Court by Prosecutor Kobasrinan, who said Jho Low threatened him during his second meeting with him in 2014.
The Edge Started Reporting 1MDB Case Since 2014
When the chief prosecutor asked if he knew or suspected the relationship between former Prime Minister Najib and Jho Low, he replied that he and The Edge already knew about it at that time. He also said that during the first meeting, Jho Low said that The Edge's report was wrong and that he had nothing to do with 1MDB. In the second meeting, Liu said he knew Najib and asked The Edge to be careful with its reporting.
In his testimony, when he visited Najib in 2015, Najib asked him to leave after he exposed the corruption and fraud of Jho Low. Then-Prime Minister Najib's media adviser Paul Jaffe Rishta had also told him that he should be careful of influential people.
