Singapore First Nationwide 5G Coverage Country

Singapore achieved 3 year ahead on mission to cover the island nation with standalone 5G network by the end of 2025 at the same time it become the first country to be fully covered by standalone 5G around the globe. According to Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Trade and Industry of Singapore on 23 August 2021, “The fifth generation (5G) technology standard for broadband cellular networks will cover half of Singapore by the end of 2022 and the coverage will envelope the whole island by the close of 2025.”

Singtel, Singapore largest telecom service provider announce on 22 July 2022 that it it has achieved over 95% standalone 5G nationwide coverage. They explained that the coverage include more than 1,300 outdoor locations and over 400 in-building, as well as underground, creating immense opportunities for the development of ground-breaking applications and immersive experiences for both enterprises and consumers.

Some argue that the size of the country has accelerated deployment, but in reality Singapore has made solid plans for 5G coverage since the network was first deployed domestically.
