Liverpool Red Card

Liverpool and Crystal Palace clashed at Anfield on Monday. The game ended with a 1-1 draw, as Luis Diaz scored an equalizer for Liverpool. However, Liverpool’s striker, Darwin Nunez was sent off on his home debut.

In the first half, Liverpool dominated the possession. But Crystal Palance scored the opener. Wilfried Zaha broke the deadlock with a goal from a counter-attack in the 32nd minute. Liverpool had conceded the first goal for six games in a row.

Liverpool had over 75% possession and 17 attempts on goal in the first half. Most of the chances are not capitalized, and only 3 of the attempts are on target.

Nunez made his home debut, and he had the opportunity to equalize the game before the game. His effort was in vain as Virgil van Dijk failed to make full use of the rebound. Darwin Nunez was sent off in the 57th minute. The Uruguay international lost his cool and headbutted Joachim Andersen.

Nunez, who had just arrived from Benfica, will be suspended for 3 matches. Luis Diaz stepped up his game after the sending-off. In the 61st minute, Luis Diaz cut in from the left and curled the ball into the net. Crystal Palace’s goalkeeper, Vicente Gauita, was not able to reach the ball.

Zaha had a chance to help Crystal Palace to take the lead in the 78th minute. However, he did not capitalize on the low cross from Cheick Oumar Doucoure.

Liverpool also had the opportunity to take the lead but Palace demonstrated their solid defense to hold on to the draw. Liverpool had drawn their opening two games. Liverpool midfielder James Milner was disappointed with the result. He said that his team started well but lost their way in the middle of the game.
