North Korea is ramping up the production of Covid-19 drugs and medical supplies such as disinfectants and thermometers, to curb with the unprecedented coronavirus outbreak in the country, according to state media KCNA.

The data showed at least 262,270 people had diagnosed with fever symptoms, including one death case yesterday (May 18) afternoon.

North Korea has 1,978,230 people diagnosed with fever and 63 deaths since its first case of Covid-19 was confirmed last week, hence, strict prevention measures had been implemented across the country.

Factories in Pyongyang and nearby states were boosting the production of Covid-19 drugs and medical supplies while North Korea installed more isolation wards and intensified disinfection work around the country.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un slams officials' slackness

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un slammed the “immature” response to the first Covid-19 outbreak during a meeting with officials, blaming officials for their slackness.

Based on KCNA report, Kim Jong-un said that North Korea's ability to handle Covid-19 pandemic is immature, which makes them more difficult and complex in fighting the epidemic.

Currently, people are concerned about the lack of vaccines and inadequate medical facilities.

However, North Korea Ministry of Health had come out with a treatment guideline to prevent inappropriate treatment by overdose which could lead to more deaths.

The guidelines also include treatments for different patients.
