Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh has achieved something new every month. The Malaysian actress operates in just such manner!
At the festival's Tribute Awards on September 11, the Crazy Rich Asian star is scheduled to receive the first-ever TIFF Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award, according to US trade journal Deadline.
The honour is given to “a woman who is a trailblazer in the film business and has made a positive influence for women throughout her career,” according to TIFF.
Yeoh is the epitome of a trailblazer, according to TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey, who made the statement in a statement.
Her work on the big screen has crossed continents, genres, and decades. She gave a performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once this year that exemplifies her boundless talent. Her receiving the Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award makes us incredibly proud, Bailey continued.
Sam Mendes, the director of Spectre, will receive the TIFF Ebert Director Award this year, while actor Brendan Fraser will also receive the TIFF Tribute Award for Performance.
Yeoh received an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the American Film Institute earlier this month.
Yeoh was included on Time magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2022 in May.
Avatar: The Way Of Water, The Minion: The Rise Of Gru, Paws Of Fury: The Legend Of Hank, The School Of Good And Evil, and Everything Everywhere All At Once are among the five films that the 60-year-old Malaysian actress, who is one of Hollywood's busiest performers today, has released or are scheduled to release this year alone.
“You do it because you want to do it, with enthusiasm, is my guiding principle. Our lives are gifts, and I hope to be able to look back and say, “I lived it to the fullest,” Yeoh said on her work ethic in an interview with Town & Country magazine.
