(Pontian District May of 9) A motor knight spat, insulted an 18-year-old and broke the rearview mirror of a car because he was unhappy with being honked. The defendant today pleaded guilty to three charges and was granted bail of RM4,500 pending trial.

Man defendant buried his head in his hands to avoid exposure

The defendant, Mohamad Farhan (24, driver of Lorry), appeared before Magistrates in Pontian district today. He was riding a motorcycle on the road in front of the mosque in the Kulai reclamation area.

According to the charge sheet, at 5.50pm on May 3, the defendant, disgruntled at being driven by a car honking its horn, spat at an 18-year-old man causing a threat to his personal safety, collide section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 (disgrace others).

The defendant also broke the rearview mirror of a Proton X70 sedan, resulting in rm1,644 damage to the 50-year-old female owner, contravening Section 427 of the Criminal Code (vandalism).

The defendant was also charged with making abusive remarks to the 18-year-old by using the word “babi” (pig), contrary to Section 509 of the Penal Code (insulting another person).

If convicted of the above charges, the defendant is liable to a fine or imprisonment for up to five years or both.

After hearing the charge, the defendant Mohamad Farhan pleaded guilty to Judge in the Pontian district Magistrate's Court.

The case was led by Ms Nurizati, who asked the judge to set bail at RM8,000 for each charge. Barrister Harley Jan, who represented the defendants, pleaded for a reduction in bail, saying the defendants were underpaid.

The magistrate finally allowed the defendant to be bailed at RM4,500 and the case was fixed for sentencing at Gurai Magistrates' Court on May 25.
