A decade has passed since Gary Chaw withdrew from the public eye. Fans have been clamouring for some new music and, more crucially, the chance to see him perform live despite the fact that he has been pretty active on social media.
The upcoming performance of Gary Chaw, named Crazy For LIVE, is put on by Star Planet and is entirely a Malaysian production. It will feature only Malaysian performers and a wide variety of musical instruments, including the sitar, Malay percussions, Chinese gu zheng, and many others.
The Mandarin cover of Karyn White's 1988 song Superwoman that Chaw, a 43-year-old singer from Sabah, released in 2006 earned him the title of Best Mandarin Male Singer at the 19th Golden Melody Awards. Next month, Chaw will release a cover album of Cantopop classics. Since then, he has established a strong career in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China. He has also recently appeared in a number of well-liked Chinese variety shows.
