Scali has not only broken the world record and taken the title away from the previous record-holder Jarrad Young, who completed 3,054 push-ups within an hour in 2021, but it’s also the second Guinness title he has claimed.
Before this, Scali had broken the Guinness World Record for the longest time in the abdominal plank position (male).
However, breaking such records hasn't been easy for Scali. The man has been fighting through incurable pain since he has CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome), a chronic condition that he has had ever since he broke his arm at the age of 12, according to Guinness World Records.
“It’s the brain sending wrong messages to my arm, which is the affected area. So, anything like soft touch, movements, wind or water will cause me pain,” Daniel explains.
Things were extremely painful for Scali while growing up. Recounting his early treatment years, Daniel said sometimes he had to be hospitalised for months on end to put local anaesthetic on his left arm to ease the pain.
However, his pain didn't deter his determination.
