Produced by Pierrot, the same studio that animated the series' original run from 2004 to 2012, the new show doesn't miss a beat when it resumes. The first episode roughly covers the first five chapters of the Thousand-Year Blood War, and matches them pretty closely. From the first frame of the new show, it's clear that those new to Bleach won't find much, and long-time fans may find themselves catching up.

It looks like Pierrot is just as confidently bent on finishing the collection as if there's no rest – it instantly pulls you back into this world. We see a deep, dark laboratory in Seireitei in chaos, with little explanation for what happened. Characters casually refer to series-specific terms such as Gigai, Bankai, and Soul Reaper. Moments, such as the fact that the fighter in military uniform Asguiaro Ebern is Quincy, will be all the more captivating to those who understand the character and what it means in the larger world.

Bleach's comic book series ended in 2016 with a fitting ending. However, the animation ended in the middle of the 2014 story with the Lost Substitute Shinigami arc. While fans are divided on the final arc that Thousand-Year Blood War will be based on, it's good to know that the beloved series will finally be shown in full.
