He said PTPTN borrowers who graduated from 2019 onwards with first-class honours in their bachelor's degrees will be eligible for the exemption.

“This is to encourage students to work hard to obtain the best result for their tertiary education,” said Ismail Sabri during the speech.

According to The Malaysian Reserve, the waiver was previously only given to students from B40 households since Budget 2019.

“To date, PTPTN has assisted 3.67 million people in the country and provided RM66.87 billion worth of loans,” he said.

“I believe many people who benefited from PTPTN‘s assistance went on to achieve success [in their] employment and standard of living, subsequently becoming assets to the nation.”

The premier added that the fund will ensure no members of the Keluarga Malaysia would be left behind under the country's development agenda.
