The criminals stole the name of travel agencies and set up special Pages on Facebook to sell travel packages at preferential prices. According to The China Daily, there have been at least 10 cases of fraud.

One of the victims used Facebook to expose the scam; She said she found the tour operator on Facebook, who offered to “book” a discounted round-trip flight between Tahu in Sabah and Kuala Lumpur for less than RM700 (S $220), and then arrange a trip and diving package to Semporna. Located on the east coast of Sabah, Semporna is a famous undersea tourism center.

At the same time, the victim was asked to transfer money by providing bank accounts, along with forged airline tickets and receipts. In the course of WhatsApp conversation, the other party's text shows highly professional and considerate, which will not be associated with fraud.
