Children'S Vaccination

Starting today (1st June), our country's Ministry of Health will no longer provide free children's vaccination for those over age of 5 and below age of 12. At the same time, government will not control the price for Covid-19 vaccinations for children aged 5 and older in private medical institutions.

Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said the cost of vaccinations for children who were not previously registered with National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) will depend on the private healthcare institutions visited after today.

“However, the price of the vaccine must follow a set cap,” he added.

Dr Noor Azmi said a total number of 1,720,411 (48.4%) children aged five to under 12 had received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine since the launch of PICKids on 3rd February, and 1,171,888 (33%) had completed two doses.

An estimation of 548,523 children will completed their second dose by August 30, he said.

Children just turned 5 years old can start register for children's vaccination

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Azmi said the Ministry of Health started focusing on vaccinating 300,000 children who have just turned five today.

“As previously mentioned, from June 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023, PICK will only provide free vaccine to those just turned 5 years old on or after May 31, 2022 through public clinics or private clinics which still serve as Vaccination Centre (PPV), he said.

Parents can register and make appointments for children's vaccinations through MySejahtera app for their children who just turned 5 years old. Registration is open from today until January 31 next year.

Besides, parents can also make an appointment for their children directly at public clinic.
