Goldman Sachs has filed a lawsuit against the Malaysian government in a British court over the 1MDB case, which may not go down well with former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin.
According to a report by CNA, many in the unity government believe that the previous agreement between the Malaysian government and Goldman Sachs was unfair to the country, which may prompt Anwar to declassify the agreement.
Goldman Sachs' Lawsuit Against The Malaysian Government May Expose The Agreement
This comes after the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) raided a law firm linked to Muhyiddin, but no information was found. It is understood that the law firm's lead partner Rosli Dahlan was previously involved in negotiations with Goldman Sachs.
Anwar argued that the settlement amount reached in this Muhyddin-brokered agreement was not reasonable, and he had said in August this year that he might sue Goldman Sachs to recover the losses in the 1MDB case. Goldman Sachs announced in a statement that it had filed a lawsuit against the Malaysian government in a British court because of the growing disagreement over the settlement agreement.
