Lim Guan Eng urged the federal government to place pork products under a price control scheme during the Lunar New Year to stabilize the price so that people can also buy pork during the New Year.
Lim Guan Eng said he reflected on the matter with Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Mohamed Shaab and Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Seri Salahuddin, respectively and is still waiting for their reply.
Should Placed Pork Under Price Control Scheme ASAP
Lam Guan Eng hopes to implement as soon as possible to place raw pork with others under the price control scheme 7 days before and after the festive season to stabilize the price of pork.
He believes that this measure can help pork vendors. Otherwise, it will affect their business.
He also indicated that he could understand the burden of pig farmers to face the increase in the price of feed materials, so he is not proposing to place them under the price control scheme for the long term but hope that people can afford pork during the Lunar New Year, hoping that the government can set up this new mechanism to set the top price of pork in the seven days before and after the Lunar New Year.
