In response to allegations of misappropriation of RM600 billion by the government led by Muhyiddin previously, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said they would focus on investigating the RM92.5 billion of public funds used in the economic package during the pandemic period.

The anti-corruption commission issued a statement saying that the Ministry of Finance has provided them with a breakdown of the funds spent on the economic package introduced by the government in 2020 and 2021 to manage the economy during the pandemic period. Preliminary investigation, the amount of funding involved is estimated at RM530 billion. Of this amount, RM437.5 billion is not from the government, while the remaining RM92.5 billion involves government funds, so they will focus on investigating RM92.5 billion involving government funds.

Muhyiddin defies PH probe into RM600 billion misappropriation allegations

Muhyiddin said he dared to swear that the economic package that the PN government implemented previously during the pandemic period was managed under the rules and according to the procurement policy and vowed he did not spend the government's money indiscriminately.

He also said the pandemic period's cost is huge, but all matters are implemented in accordance with the rules. He has no problem if MACC wants to investigate.

Zafrul is willing to cooperate with the investigation

Tengku Zafrul was the finance minister when the PN government was in power. Tengku Zafrul said he would cooperate with investigating the PN government's alleged misappropriation of RM600 billion of public funds. 

Zafrul said he had nothing to hide, so if MACC summons him, he would cooperate with the investigation.
