Ipad 10

The 10th generation iPad is officially released, and it brings a series of major updates. But the 9th-gen iPad is still in the lineup, and there's a 2022 iPad Air to consider. However, the iPad 10 may offer the best option for modern features at an affordable price.

The lineage of this device goes back to the very beginning. Like its predecessor, the iPad 9 (10.2 inches), the iPad 10 is the spiritual successor to Apple‘s first tablet, launched in 2010.

Now that the iPad 10 features Apple's modern, narrow-bezel design at a lower price than the iPad Air and has many of the same features, it's likely to drive customers away from the iPad Pro and Air.

Although thinner and lighter, the iPad 9 largely retains the same design as the original iPad. Huge bezels, the old centrally positioned Touch ID button below the display, and tapering edges. That all changes with the iPad 10, which looks more like the iPad Pro line.

It's a more angular design, with flatter edges and curved corners, and thinner bezels. It's slightly thinner than the iPad 9 (7mm vs. 7.5mm), and the new device is also 10g lighter (477g vs. 487g). The Touch ID button has been moved to the power button on the top of the device, just like the iPad Air.

Apple takes advantage of the extra space on the front of the iPad 10. The new Liquid Retina LED-backlit display is now 10.9 inches, compared to the 10.2-inch LED-backlit display on the iPad 9.

The iPad 10 display has a 2360 x 1640 resolution, while the iPad 9 has a 2160 x 1620 resolution. However, both monitors maintain the same 264ppi density. Both support the first-generation Apple Pencil.

The internal upgrades are slightly more, with the iPad 10 powered by the A14 and the iPad 9 running the A13 Bionic processor. Apple did say that iPad 10 users will benefit from a 6-core CPU, 4-core graphics, and a 16-core Neural Engine.

The camera has also gotten better. The rear camera has been changed from 8-megapixel to 12-megapixel, and can also record 4K video compared to 1080p on the iPad 9. The front-facing camera on the iPad 10 is still 12 megapixels, but it's now a landscape camera instead of a portrait camera.

In terms of connectivity, the cellular model now supports WiFi 6 and 5G, which were not available on the previous generation model.

Considering the 64GB model starts at £499 (RM2600), the Apple iPad 10 doesn't feel like an entry-level device.
