A$AP Rocky, a rapper from the US, was booked on Monday, August 15, for allegedly shooting someone in Hollywood the year before.
According to the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, the 33-year-old, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, is charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon.
During a fight in November, Mayers is said to have pointed the revolver at a former buddy.
He is said to have pulled out the gun during a subsequent altercation between the two and fired twice, inflicting what the police characterised as “a small injury” on the former friend.
On Wednesday, Mayers must appear in court in Los Angeles.
The Praise The Lord (Da Shine) rapper was arrested in connection with the incident in April at Los Angeles International Airport after arriving from Barbados on a private plane.
He was reportedly there with his then-girlfriend Rihanna, who was pregnant, according to US media agencies.
On May 13 in Los Angeles, a child was born to the successful fashion and entertainment magnate behind the films Diamonds and Umbrella.
Mayers referred to Rihanna as “the One” in an interview with GQ that was published in May 2021.
Mayers, who is from New York, was previously detained in Stockholm in 2019 after a street fight.
In a case that garnered international notice, he spent more than a month in Swedish detention before receiving a suspended sentence. – AFP
